The Nordic Society for Middle Eastern Studies (NSMES) is an independent and non-profit association for researchers in the Nordic countries working on the Middle East. It covers all subjects in the humanities and social sciences, from antiquity to the present day. Currently, the Society has ordinary members in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and corresponding members based elsewhere in the world.
The NSMES MA thesis committee decided that the first MA Thesis Award of the NSMES is to be awarded to Mathias Ghyoot (University of Copenhagen) for his thesis “Brothers Behind Bars: A History of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Second Prison Ordeal, 1954‒1964”. The committee consisted of Laura Wickström, Mark Sedgwick, and Jacob Høigilt (replacing Charlotte Lysa due to a possibe conflict of interest). Congratulations!
THE NORDIC SOCIETY FOR MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES IS REGISTERED IN DENMARK, CVR NUMBER 39417391
